Talks After Ten - Mr. Hilroy - Aviary Night

“Talks After Ten” is certainly an apt title for Mr. Hilroy’s first EP release on Aviary Night. Being the kind of EP that oozes midnight vibes, “Talks After Ten" would be the perfect accompaniment to a 3am drive, when the world is quiet and you're seemingly the only person in it.

“Talks After Ten” is curiously, somewhat genre-less. Though it possesses recognisable characteristics of certain styles, the way they’ve been blended together makes it difficult to place it in any given box. Both the drums and the spellbinding ambient guitars, the core of the EP, place it somewhere between lo-fi, downtempo and ambient. Whereas the chopped vocals sprinkled in throughout, contribute to a slight future garage sound. Overall, Mr. Hilroy’s creativity shines through “Talks After Ten” spectacularly. There’s such a clear accompanying atmosphere to these tracks; somewhere between warmth in isolation, the quietness of adventures after dark, and moments of clarity. It’s the kind of atmosphere that gently sits you down and tells you to be still, and listen.
